Testing and new technologies

Area 3 started testing sessions, for the 2011 Regional School of Sports of CONI Sardinia www.conisardegna.it/. Testing location is in the Headquarters of Rari Nantes Cagliari http://www.rarinantescagliari.it/ that accommodated with enthusiasm the project, thanks to  Dr.  Maria Caterina Urru, also engaged in the recruitment of the 24 female athletes (12 gymnasts and 12 swimmers) involved in the study. The study will  compare dynamic balance abilities in the two groups of young athletes (12-13 years), to emphasize possible difference between the different behaviour of athletes coming  from two sports with different functional requests. The testing sessions also include  the acquisition of data about blood-oxygen consumption in the motor cortex of the brain during different kinds of motor tasks. The acquisition of oximetric data with NIRS technique is in charge of Dr. Mario Lera of SIC (Sardinia Instruments Center) , one of the best international  expert in the field. Testing session is also very useful to test a new markerless advanced technology in the field of balance assessment created by Area 3 in partnership with Aqvatech Engineering http://www.aqvatech.it/site/  in a project funded by Regione Sardegna and Ministero dell' Economia e delle Finanze with the resources of ICT SIAI101 program.
